Overview

ConferLingo does not operate an account system, advertising network, analytics service, or translation server. Before any online translation, the app asks you to agree that the content described below will be sent to the AI provider you select. The default provider is OpenAI. Advanced settings let you choose your own OpenAI-compatible HTTPS provider.

Audio, text, and glossary context

When you start an online translation, microphone audio and, on supported Macs, system audio are sent to your selected AI provider for speech recognition, translation, and optional speech generation. Transcribed text, translated text, recent conversation context, and only the relevant terms from enabled built-in or custom glossaries may also be sent when required to complete those features. The selected provider handles this data under the terms and privacy choices applying to your account with that provider.

Credentials and local data

Translation history is stored locally in the app's Application Support storage. Drafts, preferences, approximate API-usage estimates, and complete custom glossary entries are also stored locally on your device. The credential you enter is stored in Apple Keychain and is sent only to the provider you selected. ConferLingo does not operate a developer server that receives this local data or credential. You can clear translation history from the History screen; exported Markdown files remain wherever you saved them. Removing the app normally removes its local app data, subject to Apple's device and backup behavior.

System audio and screen

On recent macOS versions ConferLingo uses system audio capture without requesting screen image content. On older compatible versions, macOS may categorize the permission under Screen & System Audio Recording. ConferLingo does not record, transmit, or store screenshots or screen video.

Tracking and advertising

ConferLingo does not track users across apps or websites, display advertising, sell personal information, or use third-party advertising identifiers.

Usage estimates and provider charges

The API-usage and cost figures shown in Settings are device-local estimates based on successful responses, audio duration, and rates built into the app. They are not an invoice, balance, or spending limit and may not apply to a custom provider. Check actual charges and set budgets or spending limits in your selected provider account.

Your choices

You control when recording begins and ends and choose the AI provider that receives online translation requests. You can clear app history, remove custom terms, delete the stored credential, revoke microphone or system-audio permission in system settings, and delete exported files. The bundled product demonstration works offline and sends no audio or text to an AI provider.

Consent and lawful recording

You are responsible for notifying participants and obtaining consent to record or process conversations where required by applicable law or organizational policy.
